This has to be up there as one of the best holidays we’ve had with Freya and Frankie in the UK. We decided to explore the West Wales Pembrokeshire coastline, somewhere we’d not previously visited, and chose the Cardigan Bay area. We discovered Cwtch, a cottage formed from an old grainstore, which looked perfectly placed.
Trewindsor Cottages
Chris and Ann (AJ) bought Trewindsor Farm, in Llangoedmor, Cardigan and converted the Cow Shed and Grainstore into two luxury cottages in 2018. No longer a working farm, Trewindsor is set in 56 acres of fields and ancient woodland and both cottages are perfect for dogs, with natural stone floors and large, enclosed gardens.
The Paw Award

Everyone knows we dogs normally have four paws, so to get a five paw award is super special. Four is an extremely positive Frankie recommendation, any less and it’s just a question of personal choice.

Friendly & welcoming atmosphere
What can we say, the warmest of welcome awaited us on arrival. The cottage is luxurious with a well equipped kitchen – unusually no sign of IKEA! It has everything you need for the perfect self-catering stay, along with a basket full of logs, fresh flowers, a wonderful hamper and Prosecco cooling in the fridge.
Helpful hosts
Chris and AJ live in the farmhouse close by, but were never intrusive. We received several messages from AJ to ensure we had everything we needed, and we saw Chris for a chat each morning as we left for that day’s adventure. He embellished the recommendations in the information book which offers loads of helpful tips and ensured we made the most of our visit.

Accommodation suitability & cost for dogs
This has to be the best you can get in terms of ensuring your dog(s) feel at home. Dogs are allowed throughout the cottage. Throws are provided if they want to sit on the sofa or chair, with the only restriction being not to go on the bed.

There is an enclosed, sizeable garden, full use of the luxury bath or shower, a long as you put down the mat to avoid any claw scratching (there’s a dedicated dog bath in the Cow Shed cottage!). The floors are stone so there’s no worry about muddy paws accidentally spoiling carpets.

Little extras
Here it gets even better. There was a toy each for Freya and Frankie and a pack of luxury treats in the hamper, ‘help yourself treats’ from their special tin, poo bags and a water bowl. Even a bin for your used poo bags, although we always disposed of ours responsibly while we were out for the day. Oh and if AJ and/or Chris is available and you fancy dinner out somewhere that doesn’t accept dogs, they will even dog sit for you 🙂

Location & dog walks
This is such a premier location. The beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside and stunning coastline, offering views of its amazing turquoise seas, is easily accessible. We highly recommend the coastal walks to St David’s, the Blue Lagoon from Porthgain, Llangrannog to Penbryn and St Non to Porthclais. And local Poppit Sands was our favourite beach. But you don’t need to leave the farm to enjoy the circular walk from the front door through the private woodland. We also recommend booking a table for breakfast or lunch at dog friendly Crwst – the food is delicious!
